Big Muddy Solar Project
Big Muddy is an American energy project located in Jackson County, Illinois. The facility is currently under construction and is anticipated to be fully operational in 2026. Once completed, Big Muddy will help meet our country’s rapidly growing demand for electricity by delivering reliable, affordable, locally generated energy. It will strengthen the local economy and support public services through tax revenue, job creation, and long-term investment, while providing the electric system with the capacity needed to keep Illinois homes and businesses powered.
Responsible development that protects the land is central to Arevon’s approach, as shown at Big Muddy Solar. There, Arevon is planting carefully selected vegetation, developed with plant and soil scientists, to stabilize soil, limit invasive species, and support lasting habitat for bees, butterflies, and other pollinators.

Prioritizing Safety
Solar energy is one of the safest forms of power generation available, utilizing durable, weatherproof, and glare resistant panels. Arevon procures solar panels that pass strict testing protocols under the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency’s Toxicity Characteristic Leaching Procedure to ensure that, even if damaged, the panels are nonhazardous to people and the environment.
Strengthening Communities
At Arevon, we don’t just develop energy projects — we show up, we listen, and we act as partners to the communities that make them possible. That means more than delivering electricity. It means supporting local priorities through volunteering, event sponsorships, and direct community investments.
As part of our long-term commitment, Arevon allocates a portion of each project’s capital cost to community benefits. We focus our resources on three key pillars: alleviating food and housing insecurity, supporting education with a focus on science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM), and promoting public health and safety.
