CSUDH Partners With Arevon

CSUDH has joined forces with Arevon, a leading renewable energy developer, owner, and operator, to launch the Arevon Renewable Energy Innovation Fellows Program and the Arevon Applied Innovation Renewable Energy Competition.

“This partnership, made possible by a generous $50,000 gift from Arevon, promises to leverage our university’s expertise in sustainability and innovation to prepare the next generation of renewable energy leaders,” said CSUDH President Thomas A. Parham. “It reflects our shared commitment to addressing the urgent challenges of climate change while equipping our students with the consciousness, skills, and opportunities to make a real-world impact.”

The Arevon Renewable Energy Innovation Fellows Program selects two exceptional CSUDH students to participate as Fellows. Through a hands-on experiential learning model, the Fellows will engage with faculty, industry experts, and community partners to deepen their understanding of the renewable energy sector. The inaugural Fellows are philosophy major Jakobi Ewart and advertising and public relations major Ashley Dazé.

The Arevon Applied Innovation Renewable Energy Competition, debuting on April 15, 2025, aims to inspire students, entrepreneurs, and innovators to tackle critical energy challenges. Open to student teams from CSUDH and local community colleges, the competition will encourage developing bold, practical ideas for advancing renewable energy solutions. Teams will present pitches to a panel of judges for the chance to win $15,000 (1st Place), $10,000 (2nd Place), and $5,000 (3rd Place) prizes.

Through this partnership with CSUDH, we look forward to developing, inspiring, and empowering students and creating opportunities for the next generation within our industry’s workforce,” said Kevin Smith, Chief Executive Officer at Arevon.

These two programs build on Arevon’s strong commitment to the Carson community. Arevon earlier this year established a companion STEM scholarship program for seniors at Carson Senior High School to pursue STEM degrees at CSUDH.

At the launch event, City of Carson Mayor Lula Davis-Holmes expressed excitement about CSUDH and Arevon’s partnership.
