Arevon Partners with Boys & Girls Clubs of Carson to Support STEM Programming
SCOTTSDALE, Ariz. and CARSON, Calif. (May 22, 2024) – Arevon Energy, Inc., a leading renewable energy developer, owner, and operator, is partnering with the Boys & Girls Club of Carson (BGCC) to support its STEM Program for elementary school students. Through this partnership, Arevon will fund iPads for students to use and engage in a number of exciting STEM offerings. This will help over 200 students each year access new STEM program opportunities.
Arevon is passionate about supporting STEM programming for youth. Today, Trish Evans, Arevon’s Director of Community Relations, and Arun Muthukrishnan, Arevon’s Senior Manager of Development, visited the BGCC STEM class to announce the new iPads to the students.
“Arevon believes that investing in STEM opportunities for youth is a key component to building not only our renewable energy future, but our future workforce who will continue to advance the energy transition,” Evans said. “We could not be more excited to partner with BGCC to support STEM programming for students in Carson.”
Kim Richards, BGCC CEO, expressed gratitude for Arevon’s generous gift.
“It has been shown that studying STEM is one of the best pathways to advance economic mobility,” Richards said. “By investing in our youth, Arevon is helping increase access to critical fields for Carson students. We look forward to seeing our students expand their learning with the new iPads.”
Arevon is proposing to build the Avocet Energy Storage Project, a 200 megawatt/800 megawatt-hour facility in the City of Carson. The project will store energy during non-peak hours and discharge energy back to the grid when there is high demand. It will also greatly improve grid stability and reduce the likelihood of blackouts, while maximizing the use of renewable energy sources. Arevon hopes to break ground on the Avocet Energy Storage Project in 2025 and begin commercial operations in 2026. Arevon is committed to being a responsible community member that delivers safe, reliable clean energy projects which advance the energy transition.
