Arevon Establishes STEM Scholarships for Carson High School Seniors
Benjamin Woo and Sean Echave Receive Inaugural STEM Scholarships
SCOTTSDALE, Ariz. and CARSON, Calif. (June 14, 2024) – Arevon Energy, Inc., a leading renewable energy developer, owner, and operator, has established an ongoing STEM Scholarship program for Carson High School seniors who plan to study a STEM major at California State University Dominguez Hills (CSU DH). This scholarship awards two students with $2,500 each to support their STEM education.
Arevon is passionate about supporting STEM education to cultivate the workforce necessary to advance the clean energy transition.
Trish Evans, Arevon’s Director of Community Relations, attended the Carson High School Senior Awards ceremony to present the program’s inaugural scholarships to seniors Benjamin Woo and Sean Echave.
“Arevon believes that STEM education is the catalyst for building a diverse, dynamic, and skilled workforce to foster a clean energy future,” Evans said. “We are proud to support Benjamin and Sean on their academic journeys and look forward to seeing all that they accomplish at Cal State Dominguez Hills and beyond.”
“I am super excited to receive Arevon’s STEM scholarship and want to thank them for supporting my education,” said scholarship recipient Benjamin Woo.
“I look forward to attending Cal State Dominguez Hills this fall and majoring in a STEM field,” added scholarship recipient Sean Echave. “Arevon’s scholarship will help me reach my educational goals.”
Dr. Diana Faatai, Principal of Carson High School, expressed gratitude for Arevon’s generosity.
“At Carson High School, we pride ourselves on preparing all our students to succeed after graduation,” Dr. Faatai said. “Arevon’s STEM Scholarship will only further help our students reach their full academic and personal potential. We want to thank Arevon for their critical investment in Carson students.”
Arevon is proposing to build the Avocet Energy Storage Project, a 200 megawatt/800 megawatt-hour facility in the City of Carson. The project will store energy during non-peak hours and discharge energy back to the grid when there is high demand. It will also greatly improve grid stability and reduce the likelihood of blackouts, while maximizing the use of renewable energy sources. Arevon hopes to break ground on the Avocet Energy Storage Project in 2025 and begin commercial operations in 2026. Arevon is committed to being a responsible community member that delivers safe, reliable clean energy projects which advance the energy transition.
