The Position
The Vice President, Environmental Affairs, will lead the federal permitting, environmental management and review of Arevon’s growing portfolio. This position will be a critical leadership position reporting to the CDO and will help Arevon progress the growing pipeline of greenfield to operating projects. Candidate will need to understand and be comfortable with the changing political and environmental regulatory process while also having knowledge of creative and innovative land stewardship and agrivoltaics opportunities.
Key Responsibilities
- Oversee and manage the Environmental Affairs Team including due diligence and permitting strategies for new greenfield, current projects, M&A projects.
- Lead the federal regulatory strategy for Arevon’s growing pipeline throughout multiple environmental agencies.
- Ensure compliance with environmental standards, including local, state, and federal regulations and requirements for Arevon’s development pipeline.
- Coordinate with Government Relations, Sustainability, Construction and Operations to ensure land management, environmental compliance and sustainability plans are reaching internal goals.
- Manage relationships with environmental and governmental consultants.
- Lead the growing Environmental Affairs team including hiring staff and organizing the team structure, budget and workload.
- Manage upstream reporting on environmental risk, compliance and mitigation.
- Represent Arevon in environmental industry organizations.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s or master’s degree in environmental science/studies, environmental management, earth sciences/biology, planning, sustainability, government or a related field.
- 15+ years’ experience in environmental permitting/management of energy projects.
- Experience and ability to oversee and work with cross-disciplinary teams.
- Experience leading, creating and managing teams.
Preferred Qualifications
- Involvement in environmental advocacy through trade organizations.
- Experience leading land management and environmental stewardship in energy.
- Passion and involvement in renewable agrivoltaics.
