BESS Quality and Reliability Engineer, Asset Management

The Position
The BESS Quality and Reliability Engineer will be a core team member of the Arevon O&M Engineering team and the primary contact for BESS-related topics for projects in operation and under development. This role will report to the Manager of Maintenance Engineering. As a subject matter expert in this role, you will coordinate activities with performance engineers, field O&M service members, and OEMs. Additionally, you will support projects under development and construction, collaborating with other cross-functional teams within the organization as required.
Responsibilities
- Demonstrate and share technical expertise on BESS technology, operation and maintenance, and control systems.
- Support BESS technology selection, system sizing, and integration.
- Lead and support troubleshooting of BESS systems in operational projects by collaborating with field service teams and equipment OEMs.
- Develop and implement improvement strategies to maximize the availability, reliability, and performance of BESS systems.
- Manage quality tracking of BESS operating assets.
- Lead continuous improvement initiatives based on lessons learned from other BESS operating assets within the AREVON portfolio.
- Conduct root cause analysis reviews and discussions with OEMs to resolve chronic issues in BESS operations.
- Lead technical due diligence for selecting new BESS technologies or acquisitions.
- Mentor and provide training on BESS-related topics to team members and field O&M teams.
- Manage multiple operating assets simultaneously and guide team members to ensure successful outcomes.
- Support Procurement in BESS technology and equipment OEM qualification and selection.
- Ensure BESS operating assets adhere to all regulatory and compliance guidelines.
Experince Requirements
- 2 years of experience in a BESS technical role is highly preferred
- 5 years of equivalent work experience or 10 years of experience in a similar industry (field experience is a plus) will also be considered.
- Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to analyze complex technical challenges.
- Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to communicate complex technical information to a variety of stakeholders.
- Deep understanding of BESS technologies, power electronics, control systems, and grid integration.
- Proven ability to lead and manage a team effectively.
- Willingness to work flexible hours and be on-call for emergencies.
Education Requirements
- Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering (BSEE) or Master of Science in Electrical Engineering (MSEE) is highly preferred
