The Position
Arevon is recruiting for the position of Manger, Community Relations, an outstanding opportunity for individuals seeking an exciting, high-growth work environment in one of the most important industries of the 21st century. The Manger, Community Relations will report to the Senior Director of Community Relations and will work closely with the Development team.
Responsibilities
- Develop and execute strategic community engagement and communications plans to support the development of solar, energy storage, and other clean energy projects across the United States. The primary focus will be on assets under development, but may include efforts in communities with operating projects. The objective is to achieve positive community engagement to facilitate project success while protecting the reputation and integrity of Arevon and its partners.
- Work closely with the development team and travel for in-person hearings, permitting meetings, open houses and landowner dinners and engagements.
- Partner with the internal Government Affairs department regarding legislative (state and federal) initiatives and important engagements.
- Ensure project-specific community engagement strategies align with Arevon’s public relations philosophy, community giving practices, and ESG goals.
- Manage a budget for each project, providing cost accountability, and working with project teams to ensure accurate forecast and accurate cost coverage to achieve the strategic plan.
- Research project locations and identify key stakeholders (elected officials, landowners, neighbors, etc.) to tailor strategies to the specific community.
- Lead or support community engagement activities on specific projects to grow key stakeholder relationships and foster support for new energy projects.
- Identify opposition and related risks to project success and help implement mitigation strategies.
- Together with the Communications team, create informative and engaging marketing and communications materials related to our assets under development.
- In collaboration with the Events team, plan and execute project-level events such as open houses, groundbreakings, and ribbon-cuttings.
- Oversee a network of public relations consultants and community representatives who support Arevon’s local engagement efforts.
- Generate content to share important project milestones, including but not limited to volunteer events, open houses, and team member visits to the site, in collaboration with the Digital Media department.
- Assist the Communications team in collecting and cataloging photo and video assets for each project site. Coordinate with Development leads to acquire visual assets during all phases of the project.
- Consistently execute Arevon’s brand presence across all media.
Qualifications and Characteristics
- A Bachelor’s degree (BA/BS) or equivalent education, training, and experience.
- 5+ years of related work experience in community relations, economic development, or as a campaign field organizer or grassroots organizer.
- Experience in renewables is required.
- Experience working across rural and non-rural communities is highly preferred.
- Proven track record of creating and presenting project updates to a wide variety of stakeholders and audience members.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English are required, including writing, proofreading, grammar, syntax, and use of AP Style.
- Understanding of best practices related to community relations, media relations, marketing, and social media.
- Self-starter with strong organizational skills and the ability to handle multiple priorities daily.
- Possess an eye for detail and the desire for continuous process improvement.
- Ability to work with team members in different locations around the country.
- Proficiency with the Microsoft Office suite, particularly Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, SharePoint, and Teams.
- Ability to travel domestically, up to 35% of the time.
Location
A fully remote location, will be considered for candidates with proven industry experience. Phoenix-area team members work from our Scottsdale office on a hybrid schedule (in-office days of Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday).
