Job Description
This critical hire will report to the Director of Development within Arevon’s Development team and will be responsible for advancing all aspects of siting, identifying, evaluating, negotiating, and securing land while working closely with the development team on other greenfield-related activities.
The Project Manager position is an integral role and provides an excellent opportunity for a career in Development Project Management. The ideal candidate has a genuine interest in renewable energy, education in a related field, and at least three years of renewable energy experience. Strengths include project siting, landowner negotiations, organizing, planning, and meeting deadlines for utility-scale solar and energy storage projects. The responsibilities of a Development Project Manager, Greenfield, include but are not limited to:
- Site prospecting and site acquisition efforts by working with the development team to identify optimal sites for solar development, including conducting the necessary research and reviewing private and public land records to identify property and mineral interest owners.
- Leading land acquisition efforts by developing strategies and managing land agents.
- Meeting with targeted landowner groups and negotiating real estate agreements.
- Tracking and managing project real estate, including land leasing efforts and deeds.
- Understanding real estate agreements and leading the negotiation and strategy of the necessary real estate agreements to obtain site control pursuant to the company’s real estate management policies.
- Preparing real estate agreements, presentations, mapping, and other work products in a timely and accurate manner.
- Identifying project risks and solutions and communicating them to the leadership team in a timely manner.
Experience Requirements
- 3+ years of experience in Right of Way, surface land agent, or renewable energy greenfield.
- Ability to relate well to landowners and other stakeholders.
- Capacity to comprehend complex documents and effectively communicate project risks and impacts.
- Strong self-starter with excellent intercultural communication, organizational, and negotiation skills.
- Confident in presenting material to C-suite level executives and external stakeholders.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
- Highly proficient with Microsoft Office.
- Preferred proficiency with Anderson Optimization and/or Transect Mapping.
- Ability to learn new software as needed.
- Ability to travel (up to 70%).
Education Requirements
- 4-year degree from an accredited university in business or a similar discipline.
