Job Description
The Data Management Intern will support the Business Intelligence team by assisting in translating business needs into technical specifications and communicating with stakeholders. This role involves working with data from internal systems and various operational and financial sources. As an intern in the Asset Operations Team, you will report directly to the Manager of Business Intelligence and gain firsthand experience in data analysis and reporting.
Projects
- Report Standardization: revamp and update the Business Intelligence teams published reports, templates, and guidelines. Creating consistency within the current reporting stack.
- Metadata Gathering: work with multiple internal stakeholders to consolidate, validate, and update asset metadata into internal systems.
- Monthly Reporting Data Integration & Query Development: support the Business Intelligence team with streamlining ETL pipelines; query and view creation, data automation, and redundancy clean up.
Responsibilities
- Develop Dashboards and Reports: Assist in creating and maintaining interactive dashboards and reports.
- Organize and Analyze Data: Help structure data and identify new metrics with team guidance.
- Maintain Databases: Support database upkeep and ensure data accuracy.
- Analyze for Process Improvement: Contribute to data analysis to identify process optimization opportunities.
- Update Technical Documentation: Aid in writing and updating technical documentation and process workflows.
- Support Team Initiatives: Assist with various tasks to support team objectives and project coordination.
- Handle Ad-Hoc Tasks: Take on additional tasks as needed to address evolving team needs.
Qualifications
- Familiarity with Data Entry and Management Tools: Basic understanding of tools and software used for data entry, such as Excel, Google Sheets, or database management systems (e.g., SQL, Access).
- Basic Experience with Data Visualization Tools: Experience or coursework in data visualization tools like Power BI is a plus.
- Analytical Skills: Experience or coursework involving data analysis, including the ability to interpret data sets and generate reports using statistical methods or analytical tools.
- Familiarity with Relational Databases and ETL Processes: Basic understanding of relational databases (e.g., SQL, MySQL) and ETL (Extract, Transform, Load) processes.
- Attention to Detail and Data Cleaning: Demonstrated ability to accurately input, verify, and clean data, ensuring high-quality data for analysis.
- Good Communication Skills: Ability to effectively communicate and collaborate with different teams to support operational goals.
- Strong Organizational Skills: Ability to handle multiple tasks, prioritize work, and maintain strong organizational skills.
- Proficiency with MS Office Suite: Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications, particularly Excel, Word, and PowerPoint, for data manipulation and reporting.
- Basic Knowledge of Programming Languages: Basic knowledge of programming languages, such as Python, is a plus.
Education Requirements
- Currently pursuing a Bachelor’s Degree in Information Systems, Business Analytics, Data Science, Computer Science, or a related discipline.
Other Requirements
- This position will require working from Scottsdale, AZ.
- Ability to work 16 – 24 hours per week.
- Demonstrated interest in climate change, sustainability, and/or renewable energy.
